The Hardest Part of the Journey

SleepingSo I think I discovered what the hardest part of this journey will be. If I plan to trade my way to this double (which is only partially true), I have to get up with the market. Since the market in the U.S. starts at 6:30 a.m PST, I have decided to drag my lazy self out of bed at the same time. Do I honestly think I can consistently do this. Doubtful.

Remember, I come from the software engineering world. In that world, the day starts at 9:00 a.m. and that's if you are an early-bird. I use to show up at my job at MS at 8:45 most days, and I would easily be the first in the office. I was lucky to see most developers by 10:00.

So I attempted to get up at 6:30 today. But as if the fates were conspiring against me, the electricty for my block, and only my block, was out this morning. No lights, no alarm clock, no internet access. I'm actually writing this post from the local library. Now that's dedication.

  1. A friend of mine told me to buy Long Leap Call options on Google, or if you can afford Google stock, to do that. With 20 grand you could buy about 32 shares, as it's been going down lately. Apparently it's going to bounce back because Google maps are going to be available to use at 3,500 gas pumps. Here's a link.

  2. Thanks for the idea Tyler. Funny you mention Google. My friend Rick, the one who convinced me to start up this blog, keeps going long on Google. We talk a lot about different stocks but this is the one he keeps buying into. I have thus far avoided it because I can't figure it out.

I agree, Google is a going gangbusters, but is it worth 2/3 a MS? Forget that I think Google is a way better company (with a bias toward MS considering I worked there), MS has so many more revenue streams. But, considering that I'm doing pretty much the antithesis of my normal stock strategy, I may consider it.

Thanks for the info about the gas stations too. Hadn't heard about that, but I think it is a GREAT idea. I always need directions, but refuse to go ask anyone. If I could stop at a Gas station and just get directions without asking, I would be much more likely to frequent that gas station. Any gas station that does this just attracted half the population!

  3. Just wait until the next time Google announces their earnings. Then I'll be vindicated for having bought another 15 shares yesterday at $656 only to see it fall to $630 by today's market close.

  4. Try wakin up at 4:00 each morning to trade forex and then going to work 10 hour days. I love trading so much though that I look forward to waking up that early. Currently I'm reading Millionaire Traders.

  5. Thanks for coming by Jodi. Yeah, I wouldn't make it up at 4:00. I am sure I wouldn't make it. When I had to get up at 4:30 last week to catch a flight, I thought I was going to die. I haven't been able to consistently get up yet, but that will have to change starting next week.
